Here, in this article, we are going to discuss various tips and tricks that will help you plant the trees properly so that you get healthy and long-lived trees:

.

1.Choose Right Species and Dig Hole

.

The tree plantation process starts with the selection of the right species of the tree. Therefore, before you reach the shovel, you should wisely select the tree species according to the spoiled type and atmospheric condition of your region.

.

Once you have selected the right species, it is time to dig the planting hole. Now, remove the tree from the container and put this plant inside the hole. You should dig at least 2 to 3 times wider as compared to the root ball.

.

2.Trim the Roots and Remove Nursery Stake

.

This is the most important step because it will help in ensuring the robust performance of the tree. You should make sure that the roots of the tree ideally radiate out from the center point. You should lay the tree in the hole in such a way that the root ball forms the center. You should trim out the circling roots so that girdling does not occur. Also, it is a good time to get rid of the green toes and nursery stake.

.

3.Wisely Place the Tree

.

You should wisely place the tree in the center of the hole. You will get only one chance to plan the tree. Therefore, you should be careful during the tree plantation process. You should make sure that the depth and position of the tree are accurate before filling in the soil.

.

It is imperative to keep the root flare just like it was above the surface. If the root flare is too low or too high, you should plant it again. You should keep rotating until you find the best placement.

.

4.Create A Soil Berm

.

The soil berm can be described as the mound that will encircle the tree. The soil berm should be created at 10 to 12 inches from the trunk. The soil berm will create a bowl that can easily hold 10 gallons of water. The outer edges of the root’s balls should be inside the soil berm. This soil berm will help to keep your root moist and deliver the required amount of water to the tree.

.

5.Stake the Tree

.

The young tree needs support to grow up straight. Therefore, you should install two lodge-poles that will let your tree grow in an upward direction. The lodge-pole stakes are also used in parks and yards to protect the tree from the lawnmowers. It is recommended that you should place the stake firmly on the ground.

.

Make sure that the stakes are 8 inches away from the trunk of the tree. You should lean the stakes from the top. While using a stake pounder, you should wear a hard hat for safety purposes. While removing the stake around the planted tree, you should use extreme caution.

.

6.Properly Tie the Tree

.

The ties should be encircled at the lowest point of the tree. You should place the ties at the trunk of the tree so that it can be held straight. It should be 4 feet above the ground. You should hold the trunk of the tree from the point where you have planned to tie it.

.

Make sure that your tree stands straight and it should not be leaning. You should create figure 8 with the tie. You should make sure that one loop is around the trunk and another is around the tree. Finally, you should nail both ends of the tie into the surrounding stakes.

.

7.Provide Required Amount of Water

.

You should fill the basin with the water and provide an adequate amount of water to your trees. Young trees need more water than required. Therefore, you should not forget to provide an adequate amount of water to your newly planted trees.

.

8.Mulching Process

.

It is recommended that you should cover the soil with 2 to 3 feet around the base of the tree with wooden pieces known as mulch. The mulch is made of wood chips, shredded bark, or leaves. You should keep the mulch 2 to 3 inches away from the trunk of the tree.
