When you think of delivery pizza near me, there is a strong chance your brain comes up with Papa Johns. That is because, over the last four years, the pizza company has made a significant comeback after the financial mess the former CEO left in 2018.

This recovery is thanks to Rob Lynch, who took over as CEO in August of 2019. Not only did he make pivotal changes to top management, but he also made big changes to the company and menu.

Rob Lynch at Papa Johns has been a game changer. Prior to Papa Johns, he was the president of Arby’s. In his earlier years with the company, he came up with the well-known slogan “We have the meats,” and he also greatly improved relationships with franchisees, which increased restaurant growth. He has been recognized for numerous things, including:

  • Marketer of the Year in 2015
  • Content Marketer of the Year in 2017
  • Outstanding Marketer of the Year in 2017

His success at Arby’s made him a shoo-in for the open position at Papa Johns, and his ideas and changes have been paramount to the company’s success in the years since he took over.

Along with making key management changes, Lynch focused on marketing and menu innovations. He appointed Shaquille O’Neal as the brand ambassador, and the campaigns surrounding Shaq were extremely popular. He even has a pizza named after him, the Shaq-a-Roni, which becomes a limited-time special every once in a while.

Lynch has made monumental changes and will continue to do so.

Menu Innovations

The menu changes that Lynch has made have been revolutionary. One place he started was the crust. He introduced the stuffed crust, and has since added a thin crust, NY-style crust, and gluten-free crust.

Another innovation he come up with shortly after becoming CEO was the Papadia, much to everyone’s delight. These are handheld sandwiches on flatbread, and they come in flavor combinations such as:

  • Italian
  • Grilled buffalo chicken
  • BBQ chicken and bacon
  • Meatball pepperoni
  • Philly cheesesteak

Lynch also introduced a limited-time-only Doritos Cool Ranch Papadia that was so popular it became a regular menu option. Additional menu additions he has made include:

  • Boneless wings and wing flavors
  • Crustless Papa Bowls
  • Papa Bites

New menu ideas will continue to transpire over the years.

Increased Access to Papa Johns

Lynch has used his relationship skills to increase the number of franchises across the country, and he will continue to do so.

He has also improved the ability to order online and on the smartphone app. You can also place an order up to three days ahead of time. 

Money-Saving Options

There have always been pizza coupons for Papa Johns, but there are other ways to save money, such as signing up to receive text discounts. Lynch will continue to add additional things. For example, he came up with Papa Pairings, in which each item off of the mix-and-match menu is only $6.99 when you order more than one thing.
